Raiju.co.uk… it’s just my space on the web. I had been looking into a variety of content management systems (CMS) for a while now and finally decided on WordPress. I’d been contemplating Joomla for ages but to be honest, all I am going to do is blog.
What/who is Raiju?
Raiju is my cat, he is a cute yet slightly feral brown tabby. He was ultimately named after his nature, Raiju is a Japanese name which means “thunder animal” or “thunder beast”. Find out more on Wikipedia.
Who am I?
I am someone who enjoys doing lots of different things, I’m always on the go and simply have to be doing something 24/7. If I say that I’m chilling out then the chances are that I’m probably crafting – it’s fairly relaxing, keeps your hands busy and usually isn’t too mentally taxing.
I do not go with the flow of everyone else, I stand up for what I believe in and will not be cajoled otherwise. I say it as it is, my motto should probably be something along the lines of “let’s talk about the facts, not about the bullshit”. This occasionally usually causes some controversy but let’s face it, if everyone were the same, life would be boring.
I have many hobbies which I like to engage in outside of work:
- Crafting – this can be anything from cross stitch, making costumes and bags.
- General fitness – I go to the gym fairly regularly (you’ve got to train the body as well as the mind) and like to roller skate whenever possible. I’ve also held a brown belt in Shotokan Karate since I was 16 – I really must find a new club and finally start working towards getting my black belt.
- Messing around on my PC’s – This can involve almost anything, from trying to create an awesome image that I’ve imagined in Photoshop. I’m always contemplating making 3D models but I’ve not done that since University so I’m a bit rusty. I’ve probably messed around with almost everything at some point, Virtual Machines, Linux, SQL, website creation, you name it, I’ve probably gone there and given it a prod.
- Gaming – I currently own every console on the market and have been gaming for years, I’m into virtually all kinds of games… other than Championship Manager… come on! It’s just a spreadsheet really, I could have just as much fun… probably more with macro’s in Excel. This year I’ve played loads of games, Heavy Rain, FFXIII, God Of War 1-3, Brutal Legend, Prince of Persia to name a few.
- Music – Anything goes as long as it’s not depressing, drab, boring, repetitive or cheesy – I don’t want to be dragged down by something grim sounding nor do I want to hear a smelly cheesefest either, we’ve all heard those songs 5 million times already and they have been played to death, let them die!
- Anime – It’s different, is usually quite bright and often quite philosophical and thought provoking as virtually any topic is on the menu and the creators can do whatever they want and aren’t constrained by real world issues such as “there is no 50ft Gundam in existance”.
Anyway, that’s enough rambling from me now… back to the main site!
