Unfortunately wasn’t as epic as it could have been… the campus was too spread out, the main hall was too small and there were numerous technical glitches which ruined a fair few events.

I’m also not sure what the queues were about… there were insane queues for virtually everything… I’m not sure why they didn’t just let everyone in and get on with it.

Still, once we finally got seated and the events started, it wasn’t too bad. I dropped a bomb in the dealers room as always and my Fang cosplay was rather hillarious… I’m still debating whether or not to post the photos.

I went to the Auction… whoa, I swear some people save up all year just to blow it all on something in there. The Omake was ok but was marred by technical glitches and the fact that the stage really was too small for the performers.

I didn’t bother going to the masquerade… I love cosplays but I’m not one for fashion shows and catwalks… or taking photos so I chilled out and did something else.

I didn’t see any men dressed as Sebastian Michaelis (Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji)… I was hoping but… oh well!

Roll on Kitacon… it’s being held at the Hilton in Birmingham :D

As I’ve been fairly busy administering the spam which is flooding in for my approval on an almost daily basis. I am very glad that I turned the option to not allow posts to be posted until I’d approved them. I mean, I’m open to all opinions and comments but I really wouldn’t want some of the dodgy and weird stuff which has been fired in my direction over the past weeks.

I’ve not even got that much content or that much to post about and yet the bots are flooding my inbox with “Please approve me notifiers” – I’m going to have to see if I can turn them of somehow.

Anyway, I’ve got a few reviews on the way and I’ve been absolutely hammering the gym in the run up to Amecon. I’ve just got a few loose ends to machine on my cosplay and then I’ll be done – pictures ahoy once it’s finished.

I’ve decided to embark on a hardcore gym plan in order to get myself into shape for Amecon. It’s not that I’m unfit and out of shape to begin with but I would like to look my best when I put my Fang (FFXIII) costume on.

I’ll be trying not to eat really fattening foods such as biscuits and chocolate (which is easier said than done when they are handed round at work so frequently!). I’m going to try and stick to eating as many natural un-processed foods as possible whilst keeping within my £30 a week food budget.

I’m not sure if I’ll succeed but I’ll certainly be giving it a good go, as after all… there will be lots of people taking photos and then posting them online so… yeah, hopefully that’ll be enough motivation :)

Current WIP – sewing.

As usual my camera doesn’t do it justice…

I saw yesterday that the release date for FFXIV has been set… which means that my social life will be going down the drain come 30th September.

I used to play a lot of FFXI back in my college days so I’ve been waiting for this game ever since they announced it.  As soon as I got home I turned on both of my PC’s and began to run the benchmark utility that is available to download.

The results for both of my machines weren’t as bad as I thought they would be actually, I am quite impressed with the performance of both PC’s and had to take some screenshots just to prove to a friend who has an Intel i7 920, 6GB of (DDR3) RAM and a ATI HD (not sure of the exact number but it’s a good card – better than mine) that my PC had outperformed his. Whilst my PC isn’t bad, it shouldn’t be able to stand up to that, as if you know anything about hardware you’ll know that a Core 2 Quad Q6600, 4GB (DDR2) RAM and a Nvidia Geforce 9800GTX+ which is a few years old now shouldn’t be able to outperform what is essentially a brand new machine so it seems that somewhere on the i7, something is bottlenecking and slowing the whole system down quite substantially.

Anyway, on with the screenshots:

My higher spec PC scored 3100 on the test at a resolution of 1280×720 and 2028 at the higher resolution of 1920×1080. My lower spec PC scored 1288 on the lower res which is fairly respectable considering it’s 5yrs old!

Below is the website where the benchmark utility can be downloaded from:

FFXIV Benchmark

If it plays anything like how it looks and FFXI then it should be an epic gaming experience – I can’t wait.

So I finally decided on a platform for my site… now I just need to fill it with content, find a decent theme, widgets and backdate it accordingly :)
